Choosing Classroom Furniture

April 30, 2012

Children invariably learn better when they are sitting comfortably, rather than at old wooden desks and plastic chairs. So, while school budgets are inevitably tight, school furniture is one thing that shouldn’t be compromised on.

Clearly, tables, chairs and the like for the classroom have very different needs to other kinds of furniture. They must be robust enough to take a lot of wear and tear. And, because different students may sit at the same desk at different times during the school day, a certain amount of flexibility is also needed.

The good news is that modern furniture for schools comes in an array of designs and is well able to cope with the rigours of classroom life. And school desks can be placed together or apart, depending on whether individual or group learning is taking place.

Think about how old your pupils are, and how the room is being used. Work out how much space you have, if only with a rough design. Then calculate how many desks will fit into the available space.

Remember, offices shouldn’t have the monopoly on comfortable working furniture! The principle should extend to schools too, and that includes staff rooms and offices.

At Furniture@Work™, we sell an extensive range of classroom and office furniture online, and offer schools outstanding deals, with instant credit, and can handle bulk orders. We deliver readily assembled furniture, and can deliver the day after you place your order. Or collect it yourself. Choosing Your Reception Furniture

April 25, 2012

It may be a cliché, but first impressions really do count. Visitors will form an impression of a business based on the first thing they see when they enter your building.

So if you hold lots of meetings at your site, you must pay close attention to the furniture in your reception area. (Yet it’s surprising how many organisations don’t.)

When it comes to reception seating, strike a balance between comfort and appearance, even if you hope visitors won’t be waiting for long. You should also choose something which reflects the sort of business you are. A well-established legal firm will have very different chairs to a digital marketing start-up.

Decide whether to go for warm and friendly, modern and vibrant or a traditional look.

The same applies when it comes to choosing your reception desk. This has to project the right image for your company, and be a comfortable and practical working area.

When choosing reception desks, think about how many staff will be working there, what sort of work they will be doing, and whether any security measures such as panic buttons are required.

At Furniture@Work™, we supply office furniture UK wide, including for reception areas. We can handle bulk orders, and you can collect yourself or have your furniture delivered readily assembled on the day of your choice. Our staff have extensive industry experience and knowledge, and can answer any queries.

And we won’t be beaten on price! Learn more from our website today, or ask for a free catalogue.

Office Furniture: The Benefits of Going Modular

April 17, 2012

If you’ve not hear of it before, modular furniture is made from pieces designed to fit together in a variety of different combinations.

If you’re furnishing a new office, especially one at home, modular office furniture can save you money, since you need fewer items and less space.

Another great benefit is that you can add new modules in the same space as your business grows, giving fantastic flexibility, for example as staff levels change. Take apart outdated designs and rework as your needs shift. An occasional change of layout can also be excellent for staff productivity.

Equally, this kind of office furniture gives your employees privacy without making them feel isolated. You can build cubicles so that employees have some space to call their own, as well as spaces where people can work together.

This tyoe of furniture comes in all kinds of shapes, sizes and styles, and settings can be adjusted for chair and keyboard height and so on. So it’s a good way of making employees comfortable and therefore more productive.

At Furniture@Work™, we offer a wide range of modular home office furniture, as well as items for non-home-based offices. For the last 11 years, we’ve been offering the UK’s best prices, and we deliver items already assembled. Choose a delivery day to suit you. We can also handle bulk orders, and offer public sector clients instant credit. Our staff are highly knowledgeable, and ready to help. Call us today for an instant quote, or visit our website.

Office Chairs: Are You Sitting Comfortably?

April 13, 2012

Few pieces of office equipment are more important than the chairs your staff sit in for up to eight hours a day. So invest some attention in your choice.

To adjust your chair so that it’s at the right height, have it at the highest setting, then lower until your thighs fit comfortably beneath your desk and your feet are on the floor. Use a footrest if necessary.

If your chair is too soft, it could put pressure on your knees.

Don’t sit very upright for long: leaning back at an open angle will be more relaxing, and ease the strain on your lower back. Your thighs should be roughly parallel to the floor.

Stretch and alter your sitting position regularly. And for office chairs with armrests, don’t use the armrests when you are using your mouse or typing, since they can encourage you to assume potentially damaging postures.

With millions of working days lost in the UK annually to back pain, choosing the right desk chairs for your staff is vital. Think about how much the chair will be used each day, and for what tasks, and whether it can be adapted to suit special needs. Look for build quality, prompt delivery times and find out how long the chair is guaranteed for.

At Furniture@Work™ we offer a range of chairs for your workplace, from conference seating to leather executive products. We specialise in cheap office furniture, and won’t be beaten on price. Learn more online about our next day delivery or get your free copy of our sale catalogue.

How to Choose Computer Desks for Home

April 11, 2012

With more of us working from home, most of us are going to find ourselves looking for a computer desk at some stage. And an old table or desk probably isn’t going to be up to the task.

Before you commit, think about what computer equipment and documents you want to store in the desk, and the shelving you need. How often will you be using it and how big will the working surface need to be? Do you want a pull-out tray?

While most computer desks for home use are rectangular and fit against a wall, there are variations. A corner computer desk maximises limited space, while an L-shaped one provides extra working space, and clearly divides off a separate work area.

If you need lots of storage space, a U-shaped desk offers one practical solution, allowing you to keep papers and books within easy reach of your laptop or PC.

Finally, mobile computer carts with wheels can be easily stored out of the way when you are not working.

The finish and colour of your desk should complement existing décor and furniture. With many to choose from, including laminates, plastic, metal and wood, it’s easy to find something smart-looking and functional.

Whether you’re looking for computer desks or other office furniture UK retailer Furniture@Work, offers prompt delivery and orders arrive fully-assembled. And we also guarantee you won’t find better prices elsewhere. Talk to one of our highly informed sales assistants and get a quote or ask for a free catalogue today.

Getting the Right Filing Cabinets for Your Office

April 5, 2012

Whatever the size of your office or business, filing cabinets are invariably an ideal storage solution. But, with so many different styles to choose from these days, there’s more to think about when it comes to choosing the right ones for your workplace than you may have realised.

The first decision to make is whether to go for wooden or metal filing cabinets. Even with these two broad categories, you’ll find plenty of choice, and really it’s a matter of personal taste. Just make sure that the colour and style blend in well with the rest of your office décor.

You can also choose between vertical and horizontal cabinets, depending on the space you have available.
Equally, you’ll have to make a decision about how many drawers you require to accommodate your files. Cabinets with more drawers may take up room than you can spare in your office.

Finally, some styles are very simple and basic, while others are more ornately constructed. Again, it depends on personal taste and what the rest of your room is like.

At Furniture@Work™, we have a wide range of cabinets to suit varying needs and different offices. And we are never beaten on price, making us the best place to come for cheap office furniture. We’ve been in business since 2001, and our staff have extensive industry experience and expertise.

We also offer secure payment, and deliver the day after your order is placed or on a day to suit you. And we deliver items ready assembled. There’s more online.

Choosing the Right Lockers for Your School

April 3, 2012

Lockers are an important part of school life, and it’s essential that you choose the right ones from the outset, since they’re not the sort of thing you want to be buying every week. Make the wrong decision and renovations could be far costlier than you anticipated.

As when buying anything else, you’ll need a good understanding of your requirements, and what you are buying. School lockers can have quite a hard time of it. Graffiti can be scratched on to them, doors can be slammed and heavy rucksacks crammed with books and heavy lunchboxes are thrown into them.

All of which means you’ll probably need something fairly robust. But, equally, it’s a good idea to have lockers you can move around as your needs change. So make an educated decision!

Equally, you’ll need to think about whether to go for metal or plastic, how much space each pupil needs, and whether you need staff storage space too. Lockers come in different sizes, heights, depths and colours, and can be stacked together in different ways. Finally, think how many compartments each locker should have.

At Furniture@Work™, we sell a wide range of office furniture online, along with competitively priced school storage lockers in a range of styles and colours. We won’t be beaten on cost, and can offer schools instant credit as well as big discounts for bulk orders. Call us today for an instant quote over the phone, visit our website or ask for a free monthly sales catalogue subscription.
