These are the modern jobs your favourite Disney characters would have in 2024

In the last 100 years, Disney has taken us on exciting adventures with a range of different characters to root for – from princes and princesses to heroes and villains. Each character has a unique personality that sets them up perfectly for their mythical journey – but what would happen if your favourite Disney characters landed in 2024? Where would they work?

To celebrate the release of the upcoming Inside Out 2 movie, Furniture At Work conducted a study into the Myers-Briggs personality types of classic Disney characters to see which jobs they’d be best suited for in the modern world.

It’s often been suggested that different personality types mean people are suited for different careers. For example, extroverts may be more suited to customer-facing, team-based work whereas introverts might prefer to work independently.

Looking at the specific personality types of Myers-Briggs, here are the jobs that modern Disney characters would have based on their personalities:

Snow White – HR Manager

Having lived in a house with seven dwarves, Snow White is no stranger to being around people. As an ESPJ, the personality type known for having a loyal, caring nature, she could transfer these skills into a job as an HR manager. Warm-hearted and compassionate, Snow White would be well-suited to a job where she can create a happy, healthy environment for the people around her from her office desk – just like she did for Sleepy, Grumpy and co.!

Ariel – Designer

Ariel from The Little Mermaid is an ENFP – a confident and cheerful personality type known for their curious, imaginative nature. As an ENFP, she is well-suited for work as a designer. Designers are known for being risk-tolerant and communicative in their work. Ariel’s thirst for knowledge is clear in her passion for learning more about the human world, and her ability to improvise through non-verbal communication carries her through once she gets there.

Moana – Industrial Engineer

Moana, an ENTJ, is known for her strong-willed nature, intuition, and problem-solving abilities – making her ideal for work as an industrial engineer. Industrial engineers need to have strong critical thinking skills and the confidence to solve organisational problems with their ideas. As an ENTJ, she thrives in leadership roles – setting sail into dangerous waters against all odds to save her people.

Flynn Rider – Journalist

Although he begins his story as a petty criminal in the film Tangled, Flynn Rider’s skills could be put to much better use as a journalist. Quick-thinking and highly motivated, he’s very resourceful and willing to put a lot at risk to solve his problems – typical traits of an ENTP. Flynn Rider also sees beyond Rapunzel’s magical powers and views her as a person, which is a valuable asset for a journalist writing stories to connect with people.

Woody Pride – Lawyer

In the Toy Story films, Woody is the matter-of-fact leader and carries a strong sense of justice – making him a clear example of an ESTJ. First irritated with Buzz Lightyear for disrupting the status quo, he then immediately risks everything to rescue him once he’s realised the error of his ways. Woody is driven, courageous, and loyal – traits that would make him a great lawyer.

Elsa – Scientist

Queen Elsa, an INFJ, is an introverted, complex character who seeks to find a deeper meaning behind both her powers and her connection to her sister, Anna. INFJs are self-sufficient and driven by their strong values and desire to contribute towards the common good, and Elsa’s stoic nature and analytic tendencies make her ideally suited for work as a scientist.

Kristoff – Nurse

In Frozen, Anna’s love interest, Kristoff, has all the traits of an ISFP personality type – conflict-averse, friendly, and sensitive whilst remaining loyal to their values. These personality traits would make him an excellent nurse. Nurses are known for their selflessness and a strong commitment to their work – something Kristoff displays when he risks his life for Anna in the film.

Belle – Physical Therapist

As an INFP, Belle from Beauty and the Beast is idealistic and pragmatic whilst remaining gentle and caring. These are personality traits that would suit a physical therapist extremely well. Physical therapists are practical and intelligent, yet have strong values, seeking to understand people’s pain and how to help them through it – just like Belle does with the Beast.

The Beast – Teacher

Although he begins Beauty and the Beast as a villain, the Beast is shown to be quiet and conscientious once Belle has broken through his gruff exterior – signature traits of an ISFJ. ISFJ personality types are thorough, committed to accuracy, and able to meet deadlines with ease – making them well-suited to teaching jobs. Not to mention, the library in his castle would be any teacher’s dream!

Aladdin – Emergency Medical Technician

Aladdin is a textbook ESTP – outgoing and spontaneous with the drive and quick reflexes to solve problems as best he can. These characteristics would make him an excellent emergency medical technician (EMT). EMTs need to be sociable and empathetic with a passion for helping others – traits Aladdin displays in his mission to defeat Jafar and rescue Princess Jasmine.

When it comes to different personalities, does this determine which careers are best suited to each person? We spoke to Smriti Joshi, Chief Psychologist at Wysa, who explained:

“Each personality type has inherent strengths and preferences. For example, types with a preference for Introversion might excel in roles that require deep concentration and independent work, such as research or writing, while those who are more extroverted might thrive in roles that involve teamwork and communication, like sales or public relations.

“It’s true that there are natural alignments between certain personality types and specific jobs due to innate strengths and preferences, but personality is not entirely fixed.

“When you find a job that aligns with your natural working style and strengths it can be that you are more satisfied, enjoy it more, and perform better.”
